Dunedin, during the past few days, has been surrounded by bush fires. At Blue Skin, several telegraph posts ham been burned down. The Governor remains here until the 10(h January. He then proceeds to Oamaru, and will probably visit Mount Cook. At auction, Messrs Oargill <fc M'Lean have disposed of Leicester wool at Is 2d per lb. Friday, Dec. 27. Yesterday, the Governor attended tha Oddfellows' fete, and the Agricultural Show. He also distributed prizes ai a Native School. In doing so, he expressed his gratification that the examination had been conducted in theEnglish language ; and regretted that the same custom was not adoptel throughout the Colony. Two thousand persons went by rail yesterday to Port Chalmers. Great preparations for demonstrations on the formal opening of this line are being made. KELSON. Friday, Dec. 27. The regatta yesterday was thinly at* tended. All the principal events were won by Wellington men. TAKANAKI. Friday, Dec 27. The natives who robbed a store at Umr.roa are unsupported.
