Tjie N.Z.S.S. Co.'s s.s. Rangatira, Capt. Hepburn, left Wellington for this port at 5.15 on Wednesday evening j had moderate winds and fine weather on the passage, and arrived in the roadstead at 6 o'clock last evening, entering the Iron Pot at 4 o'clock this morning. She was the bearer of 100 tons general cargo and several passengers. —The Rangatira took her departure for Poverty Bay at 2.30 this afternoon, and will immediately return to Napier. The barque Ballarat, for Jjondon, cleared at the Customs to day with the following cargo:—-1,744 bales and 48 quarter-bales (615,388 lbs.) wool, 6 bales (275) sheepskins, 1 box curiosities, and 2 pekgs. private effects, Kinross & Co.; ]L,138 bales (318,183 lbs ) wool, Watt Brothers; 87 bales (23,308 lbs.) wool, Stuart and Co. j 30 bales (11,000 lbs.) wool, 1 case curiosities, E. Cook. Total estimated value, £66,827. The Ballarat will probably put to sea to night, and we need hardly say that we hope to hear of Jier having mad 6 a prosperous run home.
The cutter Dawn, W. Harris, master, arrived in the roadstead from Poverty Bay at 6 o'clock last evening, Imaging 66 bales wool and 6 empty hogsheads. The wool was transhipped into the ship Robert Henderson this morning.WThe Pawn will leave again to-morrow evening, for Poverty J3ay, The brigantine Galatea, 170 tons, Capt. Garson, from Melbourne, arrived at Wellington Heads on Tuesday last, 10th jnst., and was still lying at anchor there when the Kangatira left on Wednesday pigbt. As soon as the weather proved favorable, the Galatea would proceed up Wellington harbor, discharge a portion Of b«P cargo, and then m\ fov Napier,
The ketch Three Brothers, D. Hamilton, master, which left for Waihua on Wednesday last, returned to port this afternoon, with 56 bales of wool, consigned to Messrs Kinross and Co. The steam launch Lily, which left for Wairoa on Wednesday night, returned to port last night. The up trip occupied 7 hours, and the down trip 6 hours. The Lily leaves for Tongoio to-morrow morning. The Evening Post, Dec. 11, says : "We learn that Messrs. Brogd en's new steamer may be expected down in these waters by about the end of the month."
