Florence, schooner, for Mercury Bay, to-night Duwn, cutter, for Poverty Bay, to-morrow Mary Ann Jiudson, ketch, for Wairoa, early The schooner Cynthia, 63 tons, CaptaiD Giles, from Sydney, arrived in port at 7 o'clock last evening, bringing a full general cargo. She left Sydney on Monday, 7th inst., and had nothing but northerly winds, with heavy sea and dirty weather, uutil sighting Mount Egmout on the 20th inst. Was in Cook's Straits next day, when a S.E. gale was met with. After lasting 24 hours the gale moderated, and light variable winds were fell in with until the 24th, when a N.W. gale was experienced. Had moderate weather and variable winds yesterday, and arrived here as above. The Cynthia comes consigned to Messrs. Boutledge, Kennedy and Co. The s.s. Star of the South took her departure for Auckland direct at noon today, with 53 head cattle and 400 sheep. The cutter Dawn, announced to sail hence for Poverty Bay to-clay, will leave to-morrow morning, should the weather permit. The schooner Florence has cleared for Mercury Bay, in ballast. She will probably sail to-night. The schooner Hero sailed for Wairoa |ast night, with a general cargo. The s.s. Keera, from this port, arrived at Wellington at 4 o'clock this morning, after a passage of 36 hours.
