At a recent meeting of the Auckland Institute, the President stated that it might be interesting for members to know that an eclipse of the sun would take place on the Is*- Decern bet. It would be visible further to the north 01 to the west of this position. The sun would rise eclipsed at 34min. past four o'clock; at Slmin. past four o'clock three-fourths of the sun's ap parent diameter would be covered ; and at 13min. before six o'clock, all statutory time, the last contact would occur.
