Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. MONDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1872.

The usual Government monthly inspection parade of the Napier Rifle and of the Volunteer Cadets, postponed from the sth inst., took place on Saturday afternoon. The corps fell in at the Band room, White-road, and were then inarched to Clive-square, headed by ihe Rifle Band, the playing of which was much admired. They were then inspected l.y Major Withers, and at'tervyards employed in skirmishing, &c. At the conclusion of the parade, an election of a sergeant took place, in lieu of Sergeant To wnley, resigned. Corporals Renouf and Morrison were proposed and seconded, but the former declining to act, Corporal Morrison was declared to be duly elected. Previous to the Rifle and Cadet corps being marched to the Clivesquare, the Challenge Belt recently fired for was presented to the fortunate winner, Corporal H. Renouf, by Capt. Robinson, in a few appropriate remarks.

The English Mail via Suez will be due in Melbourne to-morrow.
