THE WELLINGTON REGATTA.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE HAWKE's BAT TIMES. few weeks ago, you published'; a prospectus of the regatta to be held in Wellington about the end of. February next, and not something bedone to have Port Aburiri represented* there ? I thought at the time that ap--peared in your columns, that the suggestion was a very good and since then, I have endeavored to ascertain the opinions of those who are well up in boating matters, and I find that the views, of the majority coincide wkh my own, If a crew could be found willing to train,, I have not the slightest doubt that funds, would (by public subscription) be forthcoming to purchase a suitable boat,, to be built for the occasion.. The Inter-colonial and Inter provincial Four-oared Bace, with its purse of ,£l5O, will be likely to, bring crews from most of. the- provinces,,, and will not Port Ahuriri make an effort to be represented in the race ?. Having drawn attention to this matter, I would; conclude by expressing a hope that tba subject will be taken up with spirit; and,, as a preliminary step, let a pujic meeting be called to consider the question in alk its bearings.— J am, &c, Aquarius. Port Ahuriri, Oct. 18, 1872..
