Cargo for all ports ; 300 tons, 400 rains, and 51 horses. WELLINGTON. Friday, Oct. 4. In the House of Representatives yesterday, the Speaker announced that lie had received a letter from Mr W, G. Harrison, member for the Grey Valley, stating that at an interview held between the writer smd Captain Holt, secretary to Mr Brogdeu, the latter had offered him terms for the use of his professional services, including his influence as a member of the Assembly and with the late Ministry, to advocate his vie-vs, and to induce Mi Vogel lo withdraw his opposition to Mr Stafford during this session. The offer was made under a pledge of secrecy, but Mr Harrison, after consultation wiih the Speaker, thought it right to lay the matter before the House. The Premier said the House could not take action on an exparte statement, which might or might not be correct. He would consider what steps the House should take in the matter, and recommend to-day what course should be adopted. Several speakers condemned Mr Harrison for divulging the secret. NEW PLYMOUTH. Friday, Oct. 4. The election for Egmont has terminated in favor of Major Atkinson, who ob tained a majority of 24. votes over Mr Moorhen se.
