"N pursnance of "The Regulation - of Elections Act, 1870," I, Singleton Rochfort, Esq., Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Napier Town, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a Writ bearing date the nineteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventytwo, under the Public Seal of the Province of Hawke's Bay, an Election will be holden for the return of one qualified person, to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council of the said Province for the said Electoral District, in the place of William Colenso, Esq., whose office as a Member of such Council has become vacant by his acceptance of the office of Inspector of Schools for the said Province ; and that the Nomination of Candidates will take place at the Resident Magistrate's Court-house in Napier at NOON on SATURDAY the twelfth day of October, 1872; and thac the Poll (if necessary) will be taken on THURSDAY the seventeenth day of October, 1872; commencing at nine o'clock in the foienoon.
