The s.s. Star of the South, Capt. Holmes, left Auckland at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, and arrived at Poverty Bay at 5 p.m. on Saturday; landed and embarked passengers ; and lelt again at 8 p.m., arriving here at 7 a.m. yesterday. Had line weather on the ' passage. She was the bearer of a large general cargo and several passengers.—r The Star will steam hence for the Thames and Auckland at 9 o'clock to-morrow morning.
The s.s. Rangatira, Capt. Renner, left Wellington at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday, had light winds with a heavy swell on the passage, and arrived iu Ahuriri roads at 6.30 last evening. She will enter the Iron Pot to-morrow. She has on board a large quantity of cargo for this port, and also brought 17 passengers. The brigantine Esther, Capt. Campbell, from Wellington via the coast, arriye4 in port at a. late hour last night, bringing a general cargo. She left Wellington on the 3rd inst., and arrived at Castle Point on the 6th ; landed cargo, and left on the Bth, for Aonga, where, owing to very bad weather, she did not arrive until the 18tb. Found too much sea on to land any cargo, and left for Napier on the 21st, arriving here as above.
The ship Hqvding sails for Callao tonight. The cutter Dawn will sail for Poverty |Jay to-morrow night.
