The licence was taken ovu in 1 he correct Pakeha style, and the youthful couple made one at the Putiki church, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. J 3. K. Taylor. In honor of the event, Aperahama gave a wedding breakfast this afternoon at Atkinson's Hotel. The company was very select, numbering 24, half of whom were Eupi opeans. Among those present we noticed Messrs. Pharazyn, Worgan, Woon, Booth, Fleetwood, Capt. McDonnell, &o. Attention is being directed to the sanitary advatage* of cultivation of the sunflower in malarious districts. Many facts have been adduced to show that the sunflower has the property of purifying air iaded with marsh miasm, absorbing a great quantity of moist and noxious gasses, and exhaling ozonized oxygen. Moreover, (heFrench Sanitary Commission has lately pointed out that the sunflower is a most useful plant; it yields about 40 per cent, of good useful oil, the leaves furnish an excellent fodder, and the stem, being rich in saltpetre and potash, makes a good fuel. It is notified in a late issue of the Otago Provincial Government Gazette that 100,000 acres of land in the Waitaki district have been set apart as an endowment for the Otago Univeisity.

According to statistics obtained by tho Milk Journal, the appalling fact has been made public that, up to the end of March last, 116*3 samples of milk have been analysed from various dairymen in London, and that only twenty-two honest dairymen have as yet been discovered in tho whole metropolis. An eminent divine says— t( I have been a great sufferer from bronchitis and asthma, and I am anxious to make known to my rev. brethi en, and through them to others, a valuable remedy which has never foiled me, It is as follovss; —2 oz.. of garlic peeled and bruised ; 1 lb of coarse brown sugar; one pint of water.
