The Auckland Evening Star, July 10, says :—News was brought to town this morning of a melancholy accident which has occurred at Waiwera. It appears that yesterday afternoon twobrothers named Ryan were out felling; bush in company. The younger brother,, named Edward John, had been working for some time, and had completed a good portion of work when just as he was giving a finishing stroke to an enor* mous tree it fell jbefore the expected time, and instantaneously crushed to death. The deceased was only sixteen years of age, and was the son of Mr Ryan, firewood dealer on the Queen-st. wharf. He was well known and greatly liked, and his sudden death has caused sincere regret with a gieat many sympathising friends. The body of the deceased was brought into town by the boat that conveyed the news, and will i be interred to-morrow afternoon.
