PROJECTED DEPARTURES. Rangatira, for Southern Ports, to-morrow Ringleader, for Poverty Bay, to-morrow Mary Ann Hudson, for Wairoa, early Napier, for Poverty Bay, on Wednesday next, 10th inst. Hero, for Wairoa, early
The s.s. Rangatira, Capt. Renner, left Napier at 6 p.m. on Friday last, sth inst., with moderate N.W. winds, which continued until south of Castle Point, when she encountered a strong S.W. gale. Bore up in consequence, and anchored off Castle Point at noon on Saturday. L r t't again at noon on Sunday, with a fresh N.W. wind. At 6 p.m. the same day, when off Pahau, encountered a severe S.S.W. gale, with a very heavy sea. For the safety of the vessel was compelled to again bear up, aud ran for shelter to this port, arriving in the roadstead at 11 a.m today; entered the Iron Pot at 4.30 p.m., and immediately commenced taking jn coal, the stock on board having completely run out. Should the weather permit, the Rangatira will resume her voyage southwards to-morrow morning. The p.s. Nevada, having left Wellington for Napier at noon yesterday, was of course expected to arrive here some time to day, but up to the time we went to press there was no sign of her. Capt. Jlenner, of the Rangatira, which arrived this morning, informs us that, last night, when the Rangatira was between Pahau and Castle Point, steering northwards, a steamer's light to be that of the Nevada) was sighted astern. It was last seen about 11 p.m., in a south-easterly direction. The general impression seems to be that the Nevada has passed on to Auckland without calling in here,
