The Hamilton (Waikato) correspondent of the Southern Cross writes , The caterpillars have been committing wholesale destruction to the grass (particularly cocksfoot) in this neighborhood, nipping it completely to the root. I would remark, en passant, that on opening the crop of a pheasant lately I counted over 90 grubs, crickets, and caterpillars."
