FROM GREFILLE'S TELEGRAM COMPANY, Reviews Agwts. TIM ABU. Destructive Fire—Supposed Incendiarism. Tuesday, Alay.H. A DISASTROUS fire occurred here last ni<dit, resulting in the destruction of a valuable block of buildings situate in the main saufch road. The premises destroyed include Taylor's restaurant, an empty shop, the Ship Hotel, the Timaru Gazette office, with Price ami Hartman's photographic studio, Hutton's grocery store, Skene, sailmaktr, and Oockcroft, watchmaker. The fire originated at the back of the Ship Hotel. The circumstances are auspicious, and the fire is supposed to have been the work of an incendiary. The following are the a mounts of the insurances:— In the New Zealand Company, £700; London and Lancashire, ,£450; Victorian, «£IQQ. The pro prietors of the Ship Hotel are heavy losers. Others who had their houses destroyed, succeeded in saving nearly all their stock and furniture.
