Eight will be exhibited from a mast on the western extremity of the Eastern Spit, fort Ahuriri, and will bp seen pn the following bearings from seacard : P,ed r! . ... from S,E. by S. to S. by E.£E. White ... From S. by E.fE. to S.W. by S.£S. Red ... ... Erom S.W. by to S.W.|S. The light will be about %f feet above high water, ?pd should be visible, in clear weather, about 9 nautical raijes, allpwing 10 feet for the height of the obserr fer's eye. The Pania Rock is in the pentre of the southwestern fed light, whiph will be seen one quarter of a mile (nautical) on e.iph side of the rock. Vessels approaching t'rojn the nprt|iward ; should keep in the white light. , Masters "pf vessels poming frpm the sputhward will find this light no guide fpr them, and must use all pre? Jautions its heretofore to avoid the rpcky patch called Che Auckland lipck, whiph has only 14 fept on some portions pf it at lpw water spripgs. This patph exZends at least one cable to the southward pf the black puoy which is moored off the northern edge of the patch, and which lies in 5f fathpms at low water Bprings. All bearings are magnetic.
