PORT AHURIRI HARBOUR LIGHT. This Light shows Red on the Pania Rock. pN and after the Ist day of July, 1871, a fixed Red and White Light will be exhibited from a mast on the jvestern extremity of the Eastern Spit, Port Ahuriri, and will be §een on the following bearings from seacard: ~ Red Frpm S.E. by S. to S. by E.fE. White ... From S. by E.fE. to S.W. by S.^S. Red From S.W. by S4S. tp ' The light will be about 27 feet above high water, and should be visible, in clear weather, about 9 nautipal miles, allowing 10 feet for the height of the observer's eye. The Pania Ropk is in t{ie centre of the south r western fed light, which will -be seen one quarter of a mile (nautipal) on each side pf the rock. Vessels approaching from the nprthward should keep in the white light. Masters pf vessels, coming from the southward will find this light no guide for them, and must use all precautions as heretofore to avoid the rocky patch called whe Auckland Rock, which has only 14 feet pn some portions pf it at low water springs. This patch exfends at least one cable to the southward pf the black pupy which is moored off the northein edge of the patch, and which lies in 5f fathoms at low water Springs. All bearings are magnetic.
