PORT AHURIHI HARBOUR LIGHT, This Light shows Red on. the Pania Rock. Pw and after the Ist .fay pf July, 1871, a feed Red and White Light will be exhibited frpm a piast on the western extremity ofthe Eastern Spit, Port' Ahuriri, and will be seen pn the following bearings frpip seajyard:— Bed from S'j. by S. to S. by E.fE. White ... From S. by E.fE. to S.W- by S.^S. Red ... ... ?rom S.W. by S4S. to S.W.^S. The light' will be about 27 feet'above high water, and should be visible* ip clear weather, about 9 nautical miles, allpwipg 10 feet for tlie height of the observer's eye. The Pania' Rock is ip the centre ofthe sputh-western Jed light, which will be seep one quarter of a, mile jnaptical) op eaph side of the rock, vessels approachlug from the northward should keep,in the white light. Masters of vessels popripg from the southward will find this light no guide fpr them, and must use aHprelautipps aa heretofore to ayoid the rftcky patph called theAucklapd Rppk, which has only 14 feet p.u some portions pf it at lpw water springs. This patph exfends at least one cable to the southward pf the black onpy whipp is mppred of the northern edge of the patch, apd which lies in 5| fathoms a.t low water springs. All bearings are magpetic.
