PORT AHURIRI HARBOUR LIGHT. Thisi jfigty shows Red on the Pania Bock. On and after the Ist day of J[uly, 1871, a fixed Rod and White Light will be exhibited from a mast on the western extremity of the Eastern Spit, Tort Ahuriri, ?nd will be seen pn the follpwing bearings from seacard :—- Red From S.B. by S. to S. by E.fE. White ... From S. by E.%£. to S.W. by S.£S. Red ... ... From S.W. by S.iS. to S.W.fS. The light will be about 27 feet above high water, pnd should be visible, in clear weather, about 9 nautical miles, allpwing 10 feet for the height pf the observer's eye. The Pania Rock is in the centre of the south-western red light, which will be seen one quarter pf a mile (nautical) on each side of the rock. Yessels ing from the northward should keep in the white light. Masters pf yessels coming from the southward will find this light no guide for them, and must use all precautions as heretofore to ayoid the rocky patch called Ijjie Auckland Rock, which, has only 14 feet on some portions of it at lpw water springs. This patch extends at least one cable to the southward of the black ouoy which is moored off the northern edge of the ptch, and which lies in 5| fathoms at low water Springs. All bearings, are magnetic.
