The Canterbury Piw, Jan. 18, says : The boat's crew of the Zealandia came on shore yesterday, and reported that a serious accident had occurred to the mate, Mr King, who had been knocked down the hold by a sling of flour. A boat was instantly sent off, and on arriving on board, it was found that the unfortunate man had received very serious injuries. He was superintending the discharge of the ketch Courier with a load of flour, and whilst near the main hatch one of the slings caught him threw him forward over to the main hatch; one of the men seeing his danger caught him by the leg as he was falling, but could not hold him owing to his having shoes on and his shoe coming off in the man's hands. From the deck the man fell on to the 'Aween .deck combings and from thence to the lower hold, on to a quantity of railway iron, receiving severe injuries which are likely to disable him for some time. He was attended by Urn. Donald and Rouse, and we are glad to hear that no dangerous results are likely to arise.
