This Light shows Red on the Pania Bock. pN and after the Ist day of July, 1871, a fixed Vied and s"nite Light will be exhibited from a mast on the extremity of the Eastern Spit, Tort Ahuriri, and will be seen on the following bearings from seacard,;—- ' ' ' ''" " " " ;"; ."''"*''■■, ' Jled From S.E. by §. to S. by E.f-E. & 7 hite'' ... EromS. by E.fE. to'S.W. by S.£S. Bed ... ... Erom S.W. by 8.-4-3. to S.W.JS. The light will be about 27 feet above high water, and should be visible, in clear weatiier, about 9 nautiical miles, allowing 10 feet for the height of the observer's eye. ' '' /''•?, The Pania Jtock is in the centre of the south-western red light, which will be seen one quarter ofamiie {nautical) on each side of the rock. Vessels app'roachjpg from the northward should keep in the white light. ' Masfers of vessels coming from the southward will find this light no guide for them, and must use all pre? latitipps as heretofore to avoid the reeky' patch called Jhe Auckland Rock, which'has only 14 feet on some portions of it at low water springs. This patch expends at least one cable to the southward of the black ouoy which is moored off the northern edge of the and which lies in fif fathoms at low water Springs. All bearings are magnetic.
