The steamer Keera left "Wellington for ; this port at 10 o'clock last night. She is announced to steam for Poverty Bay, Tauranga, and Auckland at 1 p.m. tomorrow.

About twenty seamen from the U.S. war steamer St. Mary's left their ship at Bioela Dock, Sydney, on the 16th Dec, and proceeded in a body to the Female Reformatory, Captain Harris heard of the intended outrage, and sent his oth'cors in pursuit, who arrived at the «*eene of action in time to to prevent any violence being used. During'the voyage of the Royal Dane, which arrived at Brisbane, from London, early last month, with a number of immigrants, a murder was committed by. one of the steerage passengers named Frederick;ißogers. He and the second cook (Edward Smith \ had an altercation in the galley, in consequence of the refusal of the latter to allow him to get a light, and the unfortunate victim was stabbed to the heart in the scuffle, and died ne:Lt day. The murderer seems to have had a reputation for being quavrels-ome on board, and to have made free use of threats to several of his shipmates. He was at once placed in irons, and is now awaiting his trial in jail.
