The s.s. Star of the South, Captain Holmes, arrived in harbor at 430 yesterday morning, fringing about 25 tone general cargo and 100 'sheep; also, 20 starlings and some trout for ;the Acclimatisation Society. The Star left Auckland at 6 p.m. on Thursday, 11th inst. ; rounded the East Cape at 2.30 a.m. on Saturday, and arrived at Poverty Bay at 1 p.m. the same day ; landed cargo and passengers, and proceeded on her voyage at 4pm.; rounded Portland Island at 10 p.m., and arrived here as above.—This steamer will steam for the Thames and Auckland at 11 o'clock to-morrow forenoon." The s.s. Keera, Capt. Carey, left Auckland on Thursday, ll.th jnat., and arrived at Tauranga on Friday ] ' left again the same day, and anchored off Poverty Bay on Saturday evening ; left again the same night, and called in at Wakaki to ship wool and flax, arriving at this port at 6 o'clock last evening. Had light winds and smooth water throughout the passage. Cargo : 13 cases apples, Boy lan ; 1 parcel, Kennedy ; 1 case, Badley ; 1 parcel, Bank of New Zealand; 10 bundles shove's, Armed Constabulary ; 12 cases, 13 bales flax, Neal and Close; 12 coils wire, 1 truss, 69 bale's wool, and 34 bales flax, Kinross and Co. (agents.)—The Keera loaves for Wellington and Southern Ports at 6 o'clock this evening. The cutter Greenwich arrived in port from Waikari last eyening, with 26 bales wool.

The schooner Hero sailed for Wairoa on Saturday pigrit, wilh a general cargo.

The s.s. Rangatira may be expected to arrive from "Wellington and Southern Ports about the end of the week. The s.s. Napier proceeded out to the barque Ballarat this morning, with a cargo of wool. This steamer will leave for Poverty Bay at 8 o'clock to-night, and will return to this port about Friday, 19th inst. The barque Ballarat will probably sail for London direct on or about Monday next, 22nd inst. It is erpeeted that she will take about 3000 bales wool.
