Hen;b? Se^velx. PORT AKURIRI HARBOUR J.IQHT. This Light shows Red on the Pania Rock. P$ and after the Jst day of July, 1871, a fixed Red and White Light will be exhibited from a mast on fhe western extremity of the Eastern Spit, Port Ah'uriri, and will be seen on the following bearings from seaward:~ " "lied From S.E. by S. to S. by E.fE. White ... From S. by" E.fE. to S.W. by S.£S. lied From S.W. by S.£S. to S.W.£S. The light will be about 27 feet above high water, and should be visible, in clear weather, about 9 nautical miles, allowing 10 feet for the height of the observer's eye. The Tama Rock is in the centre of the sotith-western red light, which will be seen one quarter of a mile (nautical) on e:ich side of the rock. Vessels approaching from the northward should keep in the white light. '"'Masters of vessels coming from the southward will find this light no guide for them, and must use all precautions as heretofore to avoid the rocky patch called the Auckland llock, which has only 14- feet'on some portions of it at low water springs. This patch exlends at least one cable to the southward of the black buoy which is moored off the northern edge of the patch, and which lies in 5J fathoms at low water jsprings. All bearings are magnetic.
