Moirison's grand annual lottery, which is announced to come off at Mr. Mayo's Em pile Hotel this (Saturday) evening. Telegraphic communication was interrupted to-day with places south of Christchurch.
The .schooner Hero, from Mohaka, arrived in port this forenoon, bringing 25 bales wool, a quantity of preserved pork an# pigeons, and % native passengers.

The Colonial Government steamer Luna returned to port fiom the East Coast at 1 p.m. to-day. Since her departure from Napier on Tuesday night last, the Luna has conveyed Major Ro pata and about 200 Ngatiporous, cnibirked at Whakatane, to their respective homes on the coast. "We learn that the Luna is just off for Wellington as we go to press.
His Honor Mr Justice Jol)nston ? we believe, leaves for Wellington by the Luna this evening.
