The return match between the Napier Rifle Club and the Wanganui Rifle Association comes off, we are informed, on Tuesday, 12th December. Ten men will compete on each side; the ranges to be 400, 500, and 600 yards. The " Daily Advertiser and Southern League" (Dunedin) is no more, the last number having been published on Saturday, the 10th November. Want of support is the assigned cause. A Norfolk (Virginia) journal reports that recently 14,000 quarts of strawberries were shipped as the first fruits of one picking of a patch of 100 acres in the vicinity of that city. A yield of this magnitude, it is stated, shows that more can be made from one acie in sirawberries than from ten in corn.
At a swimming match at Penzance, J. B Johnston, of Leeds, champion of England, swam a thousand yards in 18 minutes 7 seconds, winning the first prize of .£lO. Jones, of Leeds, was second.
