The next regular weekly paiade of the ISTapier Rifie Volunteers takes place at 6 o'clock to-morrow evening, on Clive Square. Two debt g ises came before the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, in one of which judgment was given, for the defendants. The Supreme Court sat this morning in banco. Hare v. Tiffen —Mr Stedinan for plaintiff; Mr Wilson for defendant. —Plaintiif, as provisional trustee in the bankrupt estate of John Harvey, sough: possession of certain title-det'-ds detained by the defendant, defendant pleaded that they were de tainecl as a pledge for money advanced. To this plaintiff "entered a demurrer on the ground that the law of the Colony did not allow such deeds to be detained in pledge, citing section 42 of the Conveyancing Ordinance. Several legal points arose, and were vigorously discussed. There being several nice points
raised, bis Honor reserved his decision. Buchanan v. Watt. —Mr Wilson applied for a rule nisi in this case, that; the District Judge should cany out the former instructions of the Supreme Gourt, which, on technical grounds, he had hitherto declined doing.—Application granted, and rule made absolute. The Judge to certify costs and enter up judgment for defendant in the District Court. Tareha and others v. Cashmore. —Mr WiLson applied for the discharge of the injunction granted by the District Court in this case. —Application granted; and injunction dissolved, with costs from date of declaration.—Mr Stedman applied for leave to amend the declaration, by inserting the grounds on which the injunction was claimed.—Leave granted.— Mr Stedman then gave notice that at the adjourned sitting he would apply for another injunction.—The Court then adjourned till Thursday.
