A POSTAL GRIEVANCE—A SUGGESTION,

TO THE EDITOR OF THE HAWKE's BAT TIMES. Sir,—-I would wish to ask, through tho columns of your excellent journal,, how it is that a mail between the Town and Spit Post Qffiees is only despatched. once during the 24 hours? Such, as far as I can hear, being the case at present, I certainly think some change ought to be made. The mail for the Spit being made up at, and sent away from, the Chief post Office in Napier at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, a person residing at the latter place having a letter posted for him in Town at any time after the hour mentioned, will not ve~ reive his communication from the Spit office until after the arrival of the mail, on the following day ! The between the two places being so triflings and as conveyances are running backwards and forwards almost every halfhour during the day, such a state of things is really Could, not a mail be despatched three times a day during the time from the opening till the closing of the Post Offices ? This suggestion would, I think, if carlied out, meet with general approval* and be productive of ?atisfactory results. Moreover, the extra expense the. suggested change would be likely to involve would be very trifling indeed,, which, I take it, is an important consideration in these days of retrenchment.. —1 am, &c, Ciyis.
