The sew Zealand Herald, October 24, says:—Last evening a large numberof persons met at the Edwardes-street Primitive Methodist Chapel, to. hoar a final lecture from Captain Peek, of the Beth Shan, previous to his, departure for London. The title of the lecture could not fail to be a yery attractive one, being " Personal Experiences, hy Sea and Land." Captain Peel? is sa well known in Auckland that h|s numerous friends looked forward, \?sh considerable interest to his personal narrative. The lecture, as may he imagined, was listened to most attentively. The interest of the proceeding* was greatly enhanced by several selections of vocal and instrumental nousiCj rendered bv members of the congregation. At "' the close of the lecture % very cordial vote of thanks was passccj to Capt.' Peek, and the proceeding; 1 ! concluded with the benediction.
