AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. (Reports to Oct. 7.) [MESSRS. Ht/NTER AND NOLAN.] Horses : About the average number offered of inferior and medium description, and nearly all sold at full rates. There are purchasers of good upstanding young horses for coaching, also heavy draught. At our yards on Saturday the usual number were entered. At the commencement bidding was heavy, but as the sale progressed became more spirited and with few exceptions all in were sold at satisfactory prices. We sold hacks from £6 17s 6d to £ll ; light harness horses, £l2 to £l7 2s 6d ; draught, from £25. Cattle: There was a fair muster cf dairy and store stock at the Junction Yards, and at Papakura a large number was vaided. Dairy cows are more saleable, but rates rule low ; well-bred grown steers are in active demand and sell at extreme rates. The supply of fat beasts has been very limited and generally of inferior description ; really well fatted were well competed for, and advanced in price, but the trade w«»e indisposed to purchase indifferent sorts at the prices looked for by vendors, consequently sales have been limited. At (he Junction Yards dairy cows sold from £6 15s to £9 ; two-year old steers, £4 10s to £5 ss ; three-year-old, £5 15s to £6 15s ; yearling wel-bred steers £2 7s fid to £3 2s 6d ; b(.'ef, 2Ss to 85s per 1001 b. Sheep were penned in very short nurnbe?s and prices I'ave an upward tendency. Stores and ewes with lambs at side sold at very high figures ; fat halfbreds from 14s 9d to 22s btl; lambs, 12s to l?s 9d, being small j ewts with lambs at suie, 30s 6d the couple. Pigs, supply short with uo alteration in value.
