Mr Walter Mongomery, the actor, has committed suicide. An old steam boiler is used for a gaol in Arkansas. A late special telegram, dated London, Sept. 4, says •—" The state of the Queens health is causing co isiderable anxiety," A company of American speculators have offered to " settle " the Communist piisoners in Mexico. The proposal will be submitted to the French Assembly. The withdrawal from Berkshire of the campaign of 30,000 men is irritating the a hole country, which is getting disgusted at the vacillation of the Government. The difficulty and cost of transport by rail caused the abandonment of the idea, and three smaller camps are to be formed at Wool in er, Cobham, and Aldershot.
