UPPER THAMES.
The Oiiiuemuri correspondent of the Thames Star writes : Mr Puekey, Civil Commissioner, is here ; Mr Mackay also, who seems to be very popular with the natives. Te Moananui, who is now resident at this place lias expressed a desire to sell his lands in this immediate district. They extend froqi Te Puru (below Tararu) as far as Cape Colville. He wishes to sell them to the Government. His chief reason for this appears to be partly to relieve himself from his liabilities, and partly to prevent the natives from selling during his absence. In my opinion it indicates an intention, however, to resale permanently at Ohinemuri, and follow the footsteps of his friend Te Hit* iu being isolated from the public.
