Tuesday, Oct. %. A congratulatory address to Sir David Monro was moved by Mr Fox to day, and seconded by Mr Stafford, which was carried unanimously.; also, an address to His Excellency, praying him to request Her Majesty to bestow some mark of favor on him for past services. Mr Vogel said that the Govemmant .were enquiring whether the telegraph line to Coroinandel would pay, if so it would be erected. Two petitions from Canterbury were presented to clay in favor of a duty on cereals, and two in favor of the Permissive Bill. The Crown Redress Bill has been read a second time. The Contractors' Debt Bill has been read a third time and passed. Notice has been given of the introduction of a Bill to Amend the Law Practitioners Act as regards retrospective clauses. Mr Reader Wood has given notice of motion that it is desirable that the next sitting of Parliament be Jield in Dunedin. A meeting of the Never Despair Gold Mining Company was held last nigh f , a resolution to increase the capital to .£7,000 was passed.
