LATE THAMES NEWS.
The New Zealand Herald's correspond dent telegraphs as follows : Sept. 15, 9 a.m. The Caledonian took out about five cwt. of extraordinary rich stone. The show in the main run has a magnificent appearance throughout. It was never better, and thpre is every probability of gold making to the left of the present run. A ton and a-half of splendid stuff ha> just gone into the mill. 6 p.m. The trihuters of McDonald's lease have crushed a lqt of stuff, and the yield js not payable. The market is a little lower, Caledonian, ,£165; Thames, 30. The Nonpareil have crushed their ton of picked stuff, which yielded 682 ounces of retorted gold, and with the 1,55 ounces already lodged from the. general stuff, gives a total of 837 ozs. of gold—the result of a fortnights work. The mine is looking splendid. There is picked stone by every shift. 9 p.m. The Caledonian have a few bags of specimens up this afternoon from the No. 1 winze, which is looking well, and the men are preparing to take down a further quantity from the main run, but it is very hard, the shots when fired only breaking put small pieces round the drill-hole. The Moanatairi are now retorting, and expect about 600 ounces for the fortnight. The CJna has had a good average crushing during the week with two of specimens from the Loyalty lode.
