Mary Ann Hudson, ketch, for Mohaka and Wairoa, early Hero, schooner, for Wairoa, early The Midlothian, a smart looking little ketch, of some 15 tons register, arrived in the roadstead on Saturday night, and entered the Iron Pot yesterday morning. She is from Dunedin via Pamaru, and brings a general cargo, consisting of flour, oats, oatmeal, soap, &c. The master (John Wilson) reports of the passage that the Midlothian left Dunedin on the afternoon of Saturday, August 26, and arrived at Oamaru the next day. Left Qamaru on the 28th tilt., and experienced fine weather untif the evening of tiie 29th, when a very heavy S.S.W. gale was encountered, which compelled the vessel to lay to with a iloating anchor.' On the Ist insfc., the weather moderated, and the voyage was resumed. Cape Palliser was sighted on the 3rd inst., and, gince then, nothing but a succession of strong N.N.W. winds were experienced until arrival here as above. The schooner Hero sailed for Wairoa yesterday morning, with a full general cargo. A .strong N.E. wind having, however, sprung up during the afternoon, she returned to port jast evening. The s.s. Star of the South steamed for the Thames and Auckland at 3.45 this afternoon, with 60 head cattle and 350 sheep. The Colonial Government pteamer Luna, from Napier via the coast, arrived at Tuurapga on Saturday morning last, and steamed for Auckland the same night. It is understood that the s.s. Keera may be expected to arrive here on or about Sunday next, 17th inst., from Auckland. The barque Bella Mary, from Hobatt Town, arrived at Auckland on the Ist instant, with a full cargo of fruit, jams, timber, &c. The schooner Ngareiki, with a large cargo of oranges, cocoanuts, bananas, &c, arrived at Auckland on the Ist inst, from Korotonga. The s.s. Lord Ashley left Auckland on the Ist inst., for Sydney. She took 107 bales of flax'; also, 17 boxes (21,192 ozs. L7dwts.) of goldj valued at £69,550. The ohip Merope, 75 days from Gravesend, arrived at Lyttelton on the 25th ult, having on board 175 immigrants. The ship Europa, from London, arrived at Lyttelton on the 29th ult. She brought out 160 immigrants, and a number of birds for the Acclimatisation Society, Port Chalmers.
