We learn that the s.s. Rangatira's place on coast will be supplied for the present by the ss. Ahuriri, which steamer may be looked tor from the South in about a week.
The Napier is announced to steam for Poverty Bay and Auckland sit 7 o'clock to-nighs. The Luna will probably leave about 10 p.m. for Poverty Bay and other places along the coast as far as Tauranga. In the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning the following civil cases were heard : Simeon v. Reko Tukuhana (a native woman) —Claim of ,£8 17s 8d for goods delivered. The defendant admitted the claim, but pleaded that she had no money. His Worship said that in that case she had no right to obtain such articles as ** one waterproof walking dress" on credit.—Defendant said that she had an interest in certain land now passing through the Court, and that when it was sold she would be able to pay tlj.e money.—Judgment for amount claimed and 19s costs; two months being allowed for payment. Bobjohns v. Knowles.—A claim of £7 7s 6d for goods (principally " drinks ") supplied. Mr Stedman appeared for the defendant, who disputed a great portion of the claim for liquor, and also an item of 8s 6d for a hat. The latter article he said had been presented to him by the plaintiff one day when he was drunk and had lost his own He also maintained that he was charged tor far moie drink than he had ever obtained. The case was adjourned till noon for the production of books, and having been gone further into, judgment was given for £6 9s with 13s costs.
