Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. FRIDAY, AUGUST 25, 1871.
We have been requested to announce that the Rev. R. Taylor will (D.V.) hold Divine Service'on Sunday next, 27th hist, as follows :—At Kaikqra, at 11 a.m.; at Waipawa, at 3 p.m.; and at Waipukurau at 6 p.m. Jn the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning the following civil cases came on for hearing :—Peters v. G-. I. Russell.—A claim'of £1 8s 6d, balance pf account rendered.—Liability disputed.—Judgment for amount, with 14k costs. Ellison v. Urupene Puhaia—claim, £9 12s 6d; Ellison v. Hotene Meihana—claim, «£24 6s; Ellison v. Karenimeta—claim, £2B. These were claims for surveying, and were admitted by the defendants. Judgment in each case was given for the amount claimed, with costs. Smith v. Karaitiana.—Claim of £37 4s for road rates. —Judgment for amount and 25s costs. "Windus v. Hague.—Defendant was brought up on a warrant, having failed to appear in answer to a judgment summons. He explained the came of his non-appearance, and was allowed a short time by the Court, in which to pbjtaiii the money.
