By the Southern mail, we have received |he first instalment of the Parliamentary Papers of the present session. They are of more than ordinary importance, and some of them have a local as well as general interest. The great bulk ponsist of papers relating to proposed pads and railways, and are |j>y maps of all parts of the coiintry.

We shall have occasion in fui ure issues to refer more in detail to some of these important and interesting documents. 4 Report on Public Works, by the Acting Engineer-in Chief, contains a large sketch map of the whole Colony, showing .existing and projected roads and railways. We notice reports of the post office, telegraph, and other departments, and a number of financial and statistical returns. As having a local interest, we may mention the papers re lating to the purchase of the Seventymile Bush, illustrated by a lithographed plan of the block in question.
