Star of the South, Capt. Holmes, left Auckland at 1 a.m. on Saturday last, 29th inst. ; rounded the East Capo at 4 a.m. yes ierday, and brought up in the roadstead at 1 o'clock this morning. Fine weather was experienced throughout the trip. —The Star is expected to leave port again to-morrow evening, for the Thames and Auckland, with a cargo of cattle and sheep. The s.s. Napier, Capt. Bendall, left Auckland at 6 p.m. on Friday last, 28rh inst., w T ifh a full general cargo and five passengers Experienced light variable winds and dull weather to White Island. Erom thence to Poverty Bay, strong N.N.E. and N.\Y. winds, attended with thick weather and heavy rain, arriving at the latter place at 8 o'clock yesterday morning. Landed mails and passengers, and left for Napier via Wangawehi at 1 p.m. Two hours were occupied in landing cargo at Wangawehi, which place she left at 6.30 p.m., and arrived in port at 3.30 this morning.— The Napier will leave again at 12 o'clock tomorrow night for Poverty Bay and Auckland. The s.s. Lord Ashley, hence, arrived at Tauranga at 8 a.m. yesterday, and left for Auckland at 10.10 a.m. The following is a list of the cargo for this port on board the barque Alice, which left London for Auckland on the 11th May : 100 cases, 30 bales, Watt Brothers ; 1 bale, T. B. Harding ; 1 case, Routledge. Kennedy and Co.; lease, C. A. Brown j 101 cases, order ; 1 case, addressed ; 1 case, order ; 2 packages, Bridge ; 6 packages, Large and Townley ; 7 trunks, 2 cases, and 33 packages, order. We learn that the clipper ship Electra, Capt. Sellars, wa9, at latest dates, loading at London for Wellington and this port. It may not be generally known that this vessel, on her last trip from Wellington to London, .made what is perhaps the quickest passage on record from this Colony to the mother country, viz , 73 days, being in two days' less time than the Ida Zeigler's swiftest run. The schooner Meteor left A uckiaud for the East Coast on the 24th inst. We are glad to hear that the s.s. Phoebe is again in commission, and has left Wellington for the South to bring up the members of the General Assembly and their families. She is still in the hands of Mr Martin. The s.s. James Paterson, 5| days from Sydney, arrived at Auckland on the 23rd instant, with a large cargo. She left again for Sydney son the 27th inst., with a quantity of flax, grass seed, &c. j also, 3 boxes of gold, containing 5,4080 z. sdwts. 12grs., valued at £22,600. The favorite old traders Novelty and Kate have been taken off the line between Sydney and Auckland. The Novelty has sailed from Sydney fpr Lytteiton, and the Kate for Shanghai. The barque East Lothian arrived at Sydney pu the 13th inst., after a tedious passage of 108 days, the weather from the Cape of Good Hope having been especially unfavorable. She was the bearer of 5,500 cases kerosine and other American merchandise. In Melbourne, the captain of a steamer has been fined £5 for steaming up the Yarra river faster"than allowed by the regulations. Another Coolie tragedy has taken place in p.ie China seas.' The ship was burnt, and 400 put of 650 lives lost.
