Holmes, left Auckland at 4 p.m. on Saturday, 15!h inst., with an increasing S.W. breeze. Passed Mercury Island at midnight. Experienced he =vy S.W. gale crossing the Bay of Plenty, mid :st 2 p.m. on Sunday brought up in Hicks' Buy, as it would have been impossible to weather the East Cape. Resumed her voyage at 3 p.m. on Monday, and rounded the East Cape at 4 p.m., the wind being slid from the S-W., with heavy S.E. sea. Passed Ga : le End Eorcland at 4 a.m. yesterday, with a fresh westerly breeze. Was oil'Portland Island at 1 p.m., and from thence had a strong N.W. breeze until arrival hi the roadstead at 7 o'clock last evening. Jintered the Iron Pot early this morning. The s.s. Napier steamed hence about 2 o'clock this morning, lor Fovev'ry Bay and Auckland. " 1
