Monday, July 17. The Wangaehu Hotel was totally destroyed by lire last night, and a man named Peter Finn burned to death. The building was insured in the New Zealand Company for <£4oo, and the stock and furniture in the Victorian for .£250. A terrific gale was blowing at the time.
