TARANAKI.
Monday, July 10. The weather here during the past fortnight has been dreadfully stormy. Mr Richmond moves a resolution in the Provincial Council to assimilate the constitution of Taranaki to that of Hawke's Bay. Thursday, July 13. Mr Kichmond's resolution in the Provincial Council for the assimilation of the Province of Taranaki to that of Hawke's Bay and Marlborough, so that the Superintendent can sit in the Provincial Council, was unanimously opposed by the members, and eventually the resolution was withdrawn by the proposer. The s.s. Taranaki passed here without landing cargo, the sea being too rough. The mails were, however, got off. Another native meeting is to take place at Pariakia shortly. This, the natives say, will be the largest ever held in that district. A number of tho Waikatos, it is said, will be present.
