The schooner Saucy Lass, for Lyttelton, and the ketch Why Not, for Porangahau, are both working out of the Bay as we go to press this evening. The favorite stock steamer Star of the South, Capt. F. Holmes, will steam for Auckland at noon to-morrow. The fine little steamer Napier, Captain W. Bendall, will take her departure for Poverty Bay and Auckland at 8 o'clock to-morrow evening. We have been given to understand that the ship Asterope and the barque Santiago will both again load home with wool, &c, from this port next season. We understand that Mr T. Symes, of this port, who is at present down South, has in contemplation the purchase of the little steamer Alpha, (built some time ago by Mr Se.agar, of Wellington), which he intends to run in opposition to the steam launch Una. The s.s. Alhambra, from Melbourne, arrived at the Bluff yesterday morning. The ketch Foam, as wo learn from the Nelson papers, left Lyttelton on the sth May, bound to Hokitika with a cargo of oat?. On fcfye 13tb, when eight miles from Greyrnouth, she met with a heavy gale, and on the 14th a sea struck her, carrying away the mizenmast, port cathead, and bulwarks, and smashed the Boat. On the 24th, sprung her bowsprit, and kept away for Nelson for repairs. When off the Spit lost the jib in a squall, and having then ho command over her she run on the Spit, where sho now lies a wreck, Captain Walker, of the p.s. Lady Barkloy, having seen the Foam on the Spit, kindly brought over her gcew to Nelson. Alfred Jasper, chief officer of the barque Tndia, was fiaed £lO and costs at the Hobart ]?olico Court a short time ago 3 for keeping or concealing six bottles of geneva aud 18ibs of £,jbf|ccoj on which duty had not been paid;,
