A number of civil cases came before the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning. Mercer v. Oatham.—Claim of ,£1 Bs.—.Judgment for amount and costs. Thompson v. Renouf.—Postponed to Friday. Warnes v. Dunfoy. - A claim against a bankrupt's estate. Mr Lee appeared for the bankrupt, The claim was not disputed.—Judgment for amount and 9s costs,. Peters v. Hollis.—Claim of £6. Debt admitted. —Judgment for amount and £2 9s; Windus v. Hague. —Claim of .£3. Admitted.—Judgment for amount and costs, one month being allowed for payment. Evans v. Reuben (native.) — Claim of <£l4 5s for alleged breach' of agreement.—Adjourned for one week.

We are informed that Mr Nolan, who was recently scalded on board the Luna, and taken to the Hospital, is doing well, and will probably be quite recovered in a few days. The man Parker, too, who received injuries from a hook outside the Commercial Hotel, is also doing well. The English Mail via San Francisco came to hand last night by the ps. Nevada. Heavy rain set in this afternoon, and, according to appearances, bids fair to continue for some time.
