Otago, £4 5s The Caledonian Company will declare another dividend of £ls or £2O to-day. The mail steamer Nevada will leave to-morrow for Napier. A fire broke out in Houghton’s din-ing-rooms, Queen street, at 3 o’clock this morning, but.- was quickly extinguished by the fire brigade. The loss is very trifling. The New Zealand Insurance Com pany held their usual half-yearly meeting on Wednesday last, reported very satisfactorily, and declared a dividend of 30s per share, leaving a balance to credit of the next half-year of £4,180, Arrivals—Magellan Cloud, from Oamaru, and Australina, from Lyttelton. Sailed —Napier, s.s , and Star of the South, s s., for Napier. [additional telegrams ] The yield of,the Caledonian mine for the fortnight is expected to be 14,000 ozs. gold. The manager reports that on Friday there were a number of fine specimens to hand, but that to-day the shev in the face of the slope is magnificent, there being a seam of solid gold in sight. Shares in the Caledonian w ere held on Friday for £212. Thames, £43. Prince Imperial, £5. Tookey's, £3B to £4O, Nonpareil, £5. Yulcan, £ls; Ballarat and Easing Sing £l. Una, buyers at £1 2s; sellers, £1 ss. The tributors of a section of Tookey’s claim have crushed 8 tons of quartz which yielded 109 ounces of melted gold. 15 tons of quartz of Schofild’s Inverness tribute gave a yield of 31 ozs. gold. The Morning Star stuff gives a show on the tables of 3 ozs. gold f.o the ton all round.
