AUCKLAND.
Sunday, June 11. At the Supreme Court, Capt. William Percival, charged with wilful and corrupt perjury between himself and the Bank of New Zealand, has been sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment with hard labor. Subsciiptions are being raised to convey his wife and family to England. Margaret M'Carthy, a child eight months old, was drowned in a tub on the 7th inst.
A heavy gale passed over the Thames on Wednesday last. A boatman was drowned, and seyeral Auckland merchants had a narrow escape. They were picked up Iry the steamer Lady Bow en after being several hours in an open boat. The Caledonian mine is sliU,turning out well : another dividend of £l2 was declared yesterday ; Thames, £2. The next fortnight's yield from, the Caledonian is expected to be 20,000 ozs. Other claims are turning out well. Alburnia scrip is selling at ,£l4. During the past two months 85,000 ounces of gold have been received from the Thames.
