Tuesday, June 6. The Coroner's jury returned a verdict of wilful murder against Bridget Gee. The esGort brought io H,933 ounces of gold. The Council is adopting a resolution asking the General Government for funds for the construction of the Mataura, Tuapeka, and Tokornari.ro line, and of the Moeraki and Waitaki line. The Dock trustees and the contractors are at loggerheads. The former have resolved to take the work into their own hands, aud to repair the leak at their own risk.
Captain Frazer threatens legal proceedings against the Times for publishing Macassey's affidavit, commenting in strong terms ou Frazer's action as Justice in the prosecution of Cairns in the Resident Magistrate's Court. Barton was discharged to-day. Wednesday, June 7.
Mr Barton has issued a writ against the Government for malicious prosecution—damages laid at. £5,000. Mr Carleton has been appointed Chancellor of the New Zealand University; MrTancred, Vice-Chancellor.
