AMERICA.

New York, May 6. The Court of High Commission has practically concluded its labors, and is now only awaiting the action of the English Cabinet in the matter, when the treaty will be submitted to the Washington Cabinet. The conditions are not definitely known, but it is believed that the Canadian fisheries rights and the navigation of the river St. Lawtence will be conceded to America for a specific indemnity, but that, no reciprocity treaty with Canada will be included in the concession.

The settlement of the Alabama claims is to be submitted to a special commission, and the claims of British subjects, through the acts of the rebel states, are to be placed on the same footing. It is said that the temper of the Americans generally is against this mode of* settling the difficulty.

The question of the north-west boundary, including the title to the island of San Juan, is to he submitted to the arbitration of the Kings of Belgium and Ttaly, and the President of Switzerland. The treaty will probably be signed on the 9th Hay. Mrs Laura D. Fair, convicted of the murder of her late paramour, the lion. C. Rittenden, has been sentenced to death. It is considered probable that a commutation of her sentence to imprisonment for life will be granted. Heavy floods have occurred in New Orleans. An immense loss of sugar in consequence is reported. Hen* Bandmann, the actor, has been badly received in Virginia City.
