A telegram in Ihe Auckland Evening News, dated Short land, May 6, reports that "Te Hira expected to consent to the renewal of the Tauranga mail service in a few days." The Lancashire Bellringers were performing in Auckland at latest dates. According to a Shortland telegram in the Auckland Evening News,, dated 6th May, the Ngatihara tribe have withdrawn all opposition from the opening of the Te Aroha block.

His Excellency the Governor lias accepted the services of a volunteer company, the members of which have chosen for themselves the somewhat singular designation of the " Auckland Harmonic Riße Volunteers."
