Friday, May 5. The James Paterson arrived this morning from the Fijis. She reports several fatal cases of dysentery since the hurricanes. A number of vessels and several lives were lost in the late gales. The Thames mines are yielding wonderful returns. Several new claims are turning out magnificent stone. The present quotations are as follows :—, Caledonians, £ll2 10s; Thames Goldmining Company, £22 10s; Cures, £1 ; Tookey's, £l2; Moanatairi, £3 • Prince Imperial, £4 ; Otagos, £2. The ps. Nevada, from San Francisco via Honolulu, with European arid American mails, arrived here at noon yesterday. Passengers—Messrs. David Nathan, G. S. Graham, Campbell, J3awclen, Chind, Roberts, Vaile, M'Farlane, Webb, Grey,' and Morrow • 15 for Sydney ami Melbourne. Laro-e cargo for Auckland and Melbourne.
