Friday, April 28. The Tariff bill has passed its second readh'g in the Legislative Council, several members stating their intention of proposing amendments in committee. Heavy rains have fallen since Wednesday night, in consequence of which the races are postponed till next Saturday.

Mr Joseph Dyer, formerly Secretary to the Sydney Insurance Company, and afterwards Manager of Oreville's Melbourne Branch, has been appointed Resident Secretary of the New Zealand, Branch at Wellington.
